In celebration of our brave and dedicated military, on May 21, 2011, Armed Forces Day, The Upper Montgomery Republican Women's Club planned a trip to Mount Vernon the beautiful historic home of our first President and courageous General of the Revolutionary War, George Washington. We had a Beautiful Day which started with a marvelous luncheon at The Mount Vernon Inn overlooking the landscape, and an afternoon spent touring the Mansion, Gardens and New Museum. The Rockville Club decided to join us instead of their regular May meeting and ladies joined us from three other clubs as well – Chevy Chase, Olney and Potomac. We could not have planned a better day, everyone had a great experience and this outing was such a great success we can’t wait to plan something special like it for next year. Many thanks to Carola Lewis, our Vice President for her work in setting this trip up. | ||
