CCWRC HONORS CAREGIVERS OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS AT SPECIAL LUNCHEON

To honor and thank caregivers of some of our wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Hospital, a special luncheon was recently held at the home of Jayne Plank in Kensington. Among CCWRC many community interests, the Caring for America project, under the leadership of Carol Bowis, proposed the idea of partnering with The Yellow Ribbon Fund to invite caretakers to a luncheon, providing them a break from their usual stressed daily lives caring for their loved ones who have multiple war injuries.

Donations from individual members and friends, as well as local merchants, provided the funds for gift bags given to each caregiver to take home. Along with special gifts, donations to buy Giant Food gift cards were included in each bag. Caretakers shared their own personal stories of grief and healing along with hope and pride. Chevy Chase club members gained a deeper understanding and compassion for the difficulties of our military families.

For more information call Carol Bowis @ 301-229-1121 or email cbowis@verizon.net

MCFRW MEMBERS AND FRIENDS CELEBRATE WITH CHEERS AND SUPPORT FOR MARYLAND REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES"

A host of Maryland’s 2010 Republican candidates enjoyed reverberating cheers and words of encouragement from 80+ voters at the MCFRW Party on November 6th in Potomac. Through the invitation of Rosanne Szabados, Chair of this very successful event, the guest speaker was James Calderwood, a member of the National Policy Form of the RNC and Founding Board member of Maryland’s Public Policy Institute. After listening to the speaker decipher many elements of the 2010 election process including avenues of thought regarding Maryland’s Republican Party, audience participation resulted in waves of questions and discussion – thus ensuring a memorable and fun MCFRW event.
